What's the big idea?

I believe most Christians would wear faith based apparel (tee shirts, hoodies and so on).  There are a lot out there but limited variety.  The main choices I see are: the big loud "in your face" design with giant letters and some sort of cartoony graphic, UFC/Tapout style or a play on pop culture or brands. See examples below.

I am not a fan of any of these styles.  Not saying they are bad.  It's all just a matter of personal taste.  I believe there is a market for a more original designs.

You have likely heard of Crowdsourcing and Crowdfunding.  Both utilize a collective effort of many individuals who network and pool their resources/funds together.  I like this idea a lot for many reasons.  I think combining the two of them to create Inspiresourcing is something I think is worth looking at.

Here is what I am thinking with Inspiresourcing:  I do graphic design.  However, that does not mean that I am the only one capable of coming up with apparel designs/ideas.  Put out an invite to submit design ideas.  Even if the person is not a graphic artist if the idea is worth going forward with I can (or someone else) can bring the idea to life.  Each submission comes with a short explanation about the design and what ministry they want their donations to go to.

The donation component is very important.  It helps the ministry forward its mission and inspires the person who made the design to promote sales in order raise funds.  The donation amount will be a set  amount for each shirt.  The trick is to keep the overhead low enough that the shirts are not priced too high.

The overall idea is to build a community of people who want to participate. For instance,  I am not a website builder.  There may be people who want to participate and contribute this part.  Also for the strategic planning of the business.

Another area I want to do differently is financially.  I want the company to have complete financial transparency to those participating in the company.  No greater accountability for a business or a church than fiscal transparency.  Being able to see that the funds are being used as advertised is important.  In order to make this part legitimate it would require an accountant with no affiliation to the company.

This, if done right could be a nice little company.  No grand ideas of it being a "player" in the apparel industry.  The apparel industry is one of the nastiest and toughest industries to be highly successful.  However, focus on being a niche company and stick to it I believe it can do alright.

This is open book idea.  If you have suggestions, ideas or want to participate if it moves forward you can email me at brentandersonlv@gmail.com.
